Brick repair/concrete work needed..

I’ve got a house in Garden City that needs the brick on the front porch repaired as well as the concrete steps and the two pads leading up to the porch replaced.

Anyone have recommendations for a contractor?

I had two companies look at it so far. Called about 2 or 3 other places, left a voicemail and haven't heard anything back. I guess they don't want business..

I had a smaller job last spring to make an opening in an existing brick wall and enlarge one for a patio door. Almost no one I called would call back and the few that did quoted it extremely high. I ended up just doing it myself, I don't know if that's an option for you but the trade as a whole seems too busy for the little guys.

So what you're saying is you want to do these small jobs for us in need, because you're the expert now... :)

I’ve thought about doing the brick work myself and I just might.

I would still need someone to fix the steps and pads though I’d rather have the steps poured concrete rather than the precast steps.

More that if you have the physical ability and can watch youtube you can probably tackle it yourself. I also hate working on someone else's timeline so for me it was worth it to try myself and not let it hold up the rest of the project.

Pretty sure it's home repairs/construction add-ons in general.

Either it's priced beyond the researched estimated expected local cost or the phone/emails go unanswered.

I second doing it yourself. I paid someone an asinine amount to do a quick porch repair in my last place before we listed it. I thought it was over my head. Guy showed up with a buddy and between tearing it down, a run to HD and slapping it back up. They were in and out in under 3 hours.

They both walked away with $100/hr because I didn’t know any better.
