Brakes went out. Need help ASAP

The brakes went out in the car. At first it felt like a line blew but as I continued to drive the pedal started going down farther and farther. Now it goes to the floor and barely stops the car. The fluid was a bit low (from pads wearing) so I topped it off. I pumped for about 2 minutes and the fluid didn't drop at all. Now if the brake booster went, wouldn't the pedal get super stiff? Like when you pump the brakes with the car off. Sound like the seals went in the master cylinder?

That actually happened a couple of times in a 2001 Windstar I had. I asked a very good Ford tech and he said that happens occasionally with the model Ford Master cylinder I had. For some reason the fluid went past the internal seals, causing the pedal to go to the floor. I replaced the Master cylinder and it never happened again...

Sorry. It's a 1998 Ford Crown Vic. A friend borrowed my truck for the week to move down to Kentucky so I have his car. Just figures I drive the thing 10 miles and the brakes go out.
