Sorry I had to share this.
Went to Costco to get gas last night, and couldn't believe what I saw...
Idiot Move #1: A guy in a Jeep pulls up, gets out, and starts pumping gas with his engine still running.
Idiot Move #2: Then I realize he is smoking a cigarette while he is pumping (lit the cig after he started pumping), and ashing it on the ground right under the nozzle.
What kind of moron do you have to be to not only leave your truck running, but ALSO smoke a cig while you are pumping gas??????

I hopped in my truck and told the guy in the booth about this moron as I was pulling out. His response, "What the fuck?" as he sprinted over to the guy.

i leave my truck running all the time..well only when its extreamly cold... i even talk on the cell phone..lol

i dont smoke and pump tho..but thats because i dont smoke.. altho a cig isnt hot anuf to start gas .. go pour a cup full of gas..and drop a cig in it..i bet it puts the cig out!
 
I thought the signs that read TURN OFF VEHICLE and NO SMOKING were there for a reason? Pardon my ignorance.

my impression most gas station fires start from stadic electricity.. so they sould probly put signs up sayin DO NOT RUB FEET ON CARPET !...lol

I never shut my car off in the winter when getting gas, I don't see how it could cause a fire in any way. But smoking while getting gas? That's stupid.
 
1) Leaving the car running is not an issue when pumping gas.

2) You could toss a lit cigarette into a gas tank and it would not explode.
 
The engine running thing didn't really bother me that much, it was more icing on the cake. But the cigarette, did bother me. I'm sorry for my ignorance regarding cigarettes and gas, it still seems like a dumb thing to do....
 
I'm always on the phone at gas stations and always have the jeep running. If I did smoke I'd be smoking also, but I don't.
 
I know that a cig wont ignite the gas, But isin't there a ridiclous ass fine for smoking at the pump if caught?
 
I don't see a problem with the engine running at the pump other than a carjacking. I got my Ranger that way buying from the insurance company after it went missing for three months. It was found at Metro.

I always talk on the cell phone. Laughing at the Mythbusters plug as I saw the episode with cell phones at the pump. Solid state phones with no sparks don't cause explosions. I've had a couple clerks mention the phone and I just mention it's a old tale.

The smoking I would think would depend on the fumes and how much the wind is blowing (or not). I don't think I'd do that...
