body problem? dodge ram

You have a couple things working against you on this damage. First is the age of the truck. Older paint fades which makes it difficult to match. It would need to blended across a couple panels. Second, the damage is on two panels. Smooth said $1200 at the dealer; probably right. But, that would be the high end. You could probably find a shop to fix it for $700. I would be leery of any shop who would fix it for less. There would be probably 15 to 20 hours of labor and about $200 to $250 worth of materials. Anyone charging less than $700 would be using some really bad materials, cutting corners, or both.

Another option might be to have it repaired using paintless dent repair. They could pop the dent out. They would probably charge about $200 to straighten it but since the paint is split you would need to touch it up. Just depends on how cheaply you want to fix this vehicle.
