Bilstein 5100 vs HD for a 04 Tahoe Z71

Guys,

Looking to replace my oem "red" Z71 shocks on my Tahoe. I'm pretty much sold on going with Bilsteins for replacement. Any experience with their 5100 series vs HD series? It seems like the 5100 is intended for lifted vehicles, and HD more for OEM replacement (tho I'm not a big fan of the color of the HDs). Any experience with the performance/ride differences between the two? I prefer the look of the 5100s, but the HD may be better performance for what I'm looking for. Not sure...

Also, how big of a deal is it to change these? I was expecting the fronts to be a coil over & was just going to take it in to have them replaced. But, I looked last night and it appears to not be coil over... and afairly simple 2 bolt in & out... just like most rear shocks.

I've got the HD's on my truck. The ride is slightly more firm than the stock shocks, but it handles expansion joints and irregular roads much better than the stockers. They seem to perform really well on the hard edged bumps, and they made the truck more stable, especially in the curves on the freeway.

Yea, I feel the oem Z71 suspension stock is a little too soft for my liking... at least in my 2004 (esp given that it's 7 years old and 50k miles). I had a few 2007+ Tahoes and Avalanches before this one, and I don't remember them being as soft.
