Bike Ride Florida Winter 2018 EM.jpg

I couldn't stand another day of Michigan weather,
so I headed to Florida for some bike riding!

Florida unfortunately is rated #1 in bicycle fatalities.
Because of this fact, they have built some of the finest
off-road, dedicated bike trails you'll find anywhere.

Below are some of the bike trails I rode the past 2 weeks
These are highlights, not all.

"The Kissimmee Loop"

This bike trail is NOT a connected loop as stated! The north part is the best. I rode 31 miles this day @ 85 degrees.

West Orange Trail (and South Lake Trail) http://www.bikeorlando.net/west-orange-trail.htm

Ok, this is the "Mac Daddy" of bike trails! It is 20 miles long (one way) and has stations every 5 or 6 miles
with bike shops for parts & service, restrooms, snacks and parking. This is a biking interstate! By far my
favorite trail that I rode twice. Once at 41 miles and one at a new all-time personal one day record of....
61 miles @ 88 degrees!

This is not really a biking area, but it is a great (free) place to visit when
you're in the Orlando / Kissimmee Florida area.

Free car shows every Friday & Saturday and a free outdoor movie on Sunday.
Tons of things to see & do.

You definitely put some miles in. Looks like a nice trip and a great get away from cold weather. Do you have a place to stay down there?

Bad Ass man..

It was indeed a BLAST!

It didn't rain the entire 15 days I was there! I had a smoke'n hot deal for a
place to stay, a Christian campground, I helped with a little maintenance work
around there and "overpaid" them $200 for the 15 days stay. I had a very nice
cabin with it's own private bathroom.

Roadtrip! looks fun and really hot!

It was a GREAT roadtrip! The mid to upper 80's were very comfortable,
felt like 75 degrees here, because there is very low humidity in the winter
in Florida.....summer on the other hand, you'd melt at those temps!

A visitor stopped by to see me...

Wow, $200 for the stay is a great price. I'd do that every winter if I were you!

Its been a few years since I last did (other than this year),
but think I will try to plan it better for again next year.

So much going on, I almost didn't go this year! So glad
I did.

The weather in Michigan now feels like Florida in the winter,
so the Michigan bike riding continues.

Thank you scotthidley. I have heard of some great biking apps and some day will use them.

Don't laugh to hard when I tell you I have a smart phone without any data!
