BBC Documentary On Detroit: Requiem For Detroit

sad sad sad. i would do anything to be born in the 50s/60s
I dunno. My parents were born in the 40s and report Detroit was a toilet when they were teens.. You'd really have to go back to our grandparents era to see Detroit thriving. Other than Red Wings games i have no use for the city.. and if they move to the burbs I'd probably never set foot in the city again. It's just not safe..

You just have to be smart about where you go. I've not had any issues going to the foxtown area for a tigers game / lions game, or cheli's, or greektown, etc.

LMAO @ "no rush hour" yeah 696 is never packed......... :icon_roll

yes the video is about the actual city of Detroit but metro Detroit is doing just fine IMO.

My grandpa was born in 43, and he said it was pretty nice downtown, at age 12 he would joyride my great grandmothers car around the city. He found the spare key. And he would take the bus into the city where she worked @ hudsons, and steal the car for the day, and put it back in the same spot when done. (eventually got caught after he smoked a curb and bent some front end parts..lmao) But I have heard many good stories about great times he had in the city. He said it didnt start to get bad until the 60's.

I feel pretty safe in Downtown Detroit, you just have to be smart and cautious.
