I need a new Batt. for my car, elect. fuel pump, water pump, fan and other small stuff. Alt. is a 100 amp. What's a good battery for my application? Thanks!

I have two yellow top optimas in my car,bbc electric fans, pumps etc.i can get you a real good deal on them right now if ure interested

With an 100 amp alternator, I don't think you need a yellow top. A yellow top is a deep cycle battery for cars with big power draws, like big audio systems. If this is a street car and you're just looking for a solid starting battery, an Optima Red Top would be better. I go with the idea the alternator should be running the electric water and fuel pumps, not your battery.

Now if you're racing and running without a battery, a Yellow Top would be the better choice.

I am racing with an Alt. however, the Fuel pump is a Magnifuel 300 and draws quite a bit, w/the fan and the water pump would a redtop be enough?

Yup, once the car is started the alternator takes over and the battery acts more as a buffer. Don't spend the money on an Optima, they're nowhere near the quality they were when new. Die Hard's are good, Interstate is good, even some of the lesser cost bateries from Auto Zone and such are good. The correct question is what is this battery going to be cranking over and is the battery still located under the hood or has it been relocated tot he back of the car? What size are the cables?

Reread what Duke wrote. When you're done, reread it again. Deep cycle batteries are for boats and large stereos.

I don't need to reread Dukes post, I'm not looking for a deep cycle battery, it has been relocated to the trunk using a kit from jegs. All I was asking is what's a good battery.

Yea, I realize that, but my Batt. is old and won't hold a charge. Alt. is working fine

Same thing just happened to me. After 5 years my battery is dead. I have electric water, fuel pump, electric fan, t-brake, nitrous, digital box, all running lights, and more. Any battery that starts the car is good enough as long as it starts it. I just put another Red Top in my racecar only because I got a good deal on it.

Thanks guys, i'm leaning towards a DieHard Platinum.

Thats what i have in my car and it works great. I had a diehard before for 12 years starting my 13.5 to 1 motor with a locked dis. I never charged it or took it out of the car i will only buy diehards .
