Wooten and Les Claypool are awesome at funk/slap bass playing. But straight up rock/metal bass playing is owned by Cliff Burton. IMO, he is the Jimi Hendrix of bass.

I've seen Victor Wooten a couple times and he tours with his brothers. That slap battle is pretty cool but it gets to the point where they are playing so many notes that you can't really tell what's going on. That whole family is super talented but I'll take Texas Blues over way too fast playing.
