Bad Valvetrain Noise (Video)

Well I've always thought my oil pressure was a tad on the low side but never really figured it could be a pinched o-ring until Larry brought it up. I guess I just figured it wouldn't even have decent pressure if that were the case so thats what I'll be looking into shortly as well, if not then it could be time for a rebuild.

Well if the Pickup tube o-ring is pinched the oil could be airating and foaming in the top end of the motor. That would certianly cuase the problem you are having with rocker fialures.

This coud very well be happening, guess I'll have to look into is asap. Could this also be why my car seems to run a little hotter than most?

That is iffy. airated oil will typically cool a little bit better becuase it put more surface area on the pan for cooling.

But if the engine is not being lubricated properly that would create more heat. Kind of a catch 22.

If the engine is consistently running hot could be the guage is a bit off "Verify with Precision cookinf meat thermometer" or it could have a radiator that is clogged up.

Are you still running Dex Cool in that motor ? If so you could have a partially clogged radiator.

Dex Cool tend to congeal and plug up radiators.

Yeah its still has Dex cool in it. I put in a 160 t-stat last year and the car still runs around 200 after 25 mins of driving and always goes past 210 at the track when I'm waiting. It only seems to stay at 180 when I do mostly freeway driving.

I would bet you have some congealing in the radiator core. It is fairly easy to get the radiator out.

Get some Preston Super Flush and put 2 bottle in. Let it run for about 45-60 minutes then proceed to flush the crap outta the cooling system.

I would take it out and blow the core out with air to becuase alot of F-cars "given the bottom feeder air flow arrangment" tend to collect alot of debris and shit in the front of the radiator and AC condensor.

Check those out to. A good scrubbing with a shop vaccum could help that situation as well as a compressed air blower with a long nozzle tip

These are typical overheating cuases on these cars BTW.

The car is back together and ready to rip, now I just gotta work on the oil pressure situation and changing out that shitty Dex-cool.
