Bad Valvetrain Noise (Video)

So lately I've had a slight ticking sound coming from my car, I pulled a valvecover and turned the motor over ect. and found nothing visible from that and also ran Seafoam in my oil for a few hundred miles to clear carbon buildup and possibly free up a collapsed lifter if thats what it was. The noise stayed anyways but never affected the cars performance so I drove it now and then. Well today on my way home from work it suddenly became a lot worse. Any ideas would be appreciated guys I wanna know what it could be, I believe its defiantly the valvetrain.

seafoam still in there?
did you look at the rocker bearings when you had the covers off? If you pull the rockers look at the top of the valve stem. I have seen Ls1's wear the stem

No lol Seaforam is out and it had a fresh oil change. I didn't have the rockers completely off next time so I will have to check that out. I'm really hoping its anything other than the lifters because I don't wanna pull the heads again.

MY valvetrain sounds differantly with differant brand oils.
Have you had the oil pickup tube off recently?

Ok so I just pulled the valve covers and about 6 rockers were loose, as in they move from side to side, one pretty bad and the others weren't. Is this my problem or so I check the needle bearing while there off and what exactly am I looking for there?

I found the problem....

.....and couldn't be happier that its not a lifter, now its time to get a replacement set and change the oil because I'm sure it has metal in it now. Also most of the rockers were loose, as in side to side movement so they will all be removed and retorqued. Anyone got a set of stock rockers for cheap.

I had loctite on them but I'll try that teflon paste this time, you don't happen to have some rockers lying around do you Larry?

blue loctite works too. its not to hold them tight. its to seal the bolt hole to intake port.
I don't have any stockers

Hmmm that looks like it may have been started by an oiling problem.

make sure none of your pushrods are bent, I wouldn't say it is an oiling issue just yet. Put a mechanical gauge on it to make sure your oil pressure is good.

I don't have a set of stockers, sorry i threw them out after the last H/C car left.

It is time...

It's a good deal and made good power. Last car made about 370rwhp/360rwtq with LT's and stock cubes. Sure you could make a bit more with better heads and a bigger cam but plan on spending A LOT more.

good luck.

Well I have an LS6 ported oil pump and the car has never had stellar oil pressure just the same since before I changed it. Also I already have H/C and my car makes more than 370 at the wheels on stock cubes.

any of the pushrod tips blued up ? Could be a collasped or clogged lifter restricting oiling. That does not lool like a typical needle bearing cage fialure. BTW the reason I say oiling issue is becuase the oil is cooked up and burned on the rocker as if it was not getting enough oil. In fact the one next to it does not look much better.

how can you tell Sean?

ok well didn't know that. just giving options.

Strangely thats is exactly how the rockers looked when I pulled them for my original H/C swap a few years ago but once again I'm, not ruling out oil issues. Also that is a negative on the pushrod tips being blued up.

Pushrod tips look good ? Got a picture.
