it says to use a 1amp mini fuse on my power wire to my gauge. does it really mean i need to run a fuse rated at 1? im confused....i never even saw a fuse smaller than 5, and most i use are around 15-20...am i missing somthing?

I would think that the gauge just doesn't need more than an amp, I know autozone has 1.5amp mini fuses maybe 1 amp so any autoparts store should have them.

but i would think a 1 amp fuse would blow as soon as connected to the battery?

it depends on what the draw on the fuse is, if it is less than one amp it wont blow. idk one amp seems really small but if thats what autometer says to go with, try it, the worst that can happen is a blown fuse. I would get a low amp fuse pack, comes with 2.5amp 5amp 7amp etc. start with the lowest, if it blows go one higher and so on until you find the right one.

it shouldnt blow at all. the gauge doesnt draw much power at all. if i remeber right i think it was right around half an amp. ive ran a single power wire and split it up between 6 gauges with a 5 amp fuse and it never blew.
