auto trans help.

i am having an issue with the trans in my '00 grand prix GTP. the trans works fine in reverse. but in drive or 3 will not move from a stop. from a stop it a put the car into 1 it will move but feels like its not getting full power (like a slipping clutch would in a manual would sound and feel). 2 is the same as 1, but if i go through the gears, 1 2 3 D they all work just feel like they are slipping like i said. thr car will still get up to speed just takes longer. i have talkef to a few people and some are telling me it sounds like a torque converter, and others saying its the bands. any input?

sounds like the input sprag or the forward clutch have failed. Time to come out.

problem is 1) i know nothing about these cars, i've owned all hondas before this car, and 2) i've never owned a automatic so i know nothing about fixing them. i'm having a guy in eaton rapids fix it for me because i can't find anyplace else that does trans work local and cheap. so i kinda need to have the parts for this guy when i take the car in.

I agree, sounds like the clutches,bands, sprag are time for a replacment.

get a used unit or pay for a quality trans thats rebuilt by a company that specializes in that unit. 4t60 and 4t65 transmissions are tough to build correctly for performance useage.
