nah. you can code the keys by vin #. you wire into the ign harness so the car thinks it's in the run position. but you do have to have a separate module to put the coded key into so it can trick the car. that's what costs extra cash. i used to install them.braxx said:I think the ignition needs to be in the run position for the vehicle computer to record the value of the new key.
