Are all dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealer sales people useless?

I removed my teeth on purpose....if you catch my d
Wife and I are in the market for at least one new vehicle. We spent a good 3 hours with a Ford guy who went out of his way to make sure we felt like we knew everything we needed to about the vehicles we were looking for and even understood the strangeness in our inability to say when we would be buying. Great overall experience and I love the vehicles.

I refuse to buy GM, so that's out of the question, beside, other than the CTS-V there isn't a vehicle that they make that looks good to me.

Enter Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge. I walk into the dealership and have to hunt down a sales guy. I want to look at 4 vehicles. Ram Quad Cab, 300 SRt8, Charger SRT8, and Challenger SRT8. I finally find a guy who has to peel himself off of the golf cart he's sitting on with another sales guy. The rest of the experience just goes downhill from there. The entire time I felt like I was completey wasting this guys time. I obviously was a bear on him and had to almost beg to get a test drive in the RAM. Was told that unless I was buying the SRT's I couldn't test drive them. At the point he said that I was just so sick of dealing with him that I just wanted to leave. This is the 2nd Chrysler dealership I've experienced this at in the last month. I'm done going to their dealerships now. I know someone else recently had this same type of problem when trying to buy a Jeep SRT. You'd think that a sale is something they would want to do, but apparently not. Looks like Ford gets my business.

That would be me. Our first non GM product EVER and the dealer pissed me off so much I almost said screw it. We do have a member on here that works at a dealer that I would not hesitate to work with should we choose to purchase another one but I'm sure being in GA is an issue. Honestly I have never been so pissed off at a retail establishment as the time I TRIED to more than likely go buy that damn Jeep. Luckily by pure happenstance I found another dealer that wanted my money LOL

Exactly. My wife told me to just leave. I just wanted to do the damn test drive to see if the vehicle was going to be in the running. I wanted a fully loaded Ram Quad cab. he took me out in a barely loaded crew cab. Told me the ride would be the same, just not the amenities. I was just outright annoyed with him.

I was there as a witness...it was crazy. If someone told me that a salesman told them "if you have a purchase agreement we'll let you drive it around the parking lot" I would have a hard time believing it. Nope...happened. "We're one of the only places that lets you SIT in the car". Oh boy...feel so honored. It was really a parody of a stereotypically bad car salesman experience.

Well if it makes you feel any better you got further than I did. If Tyler wasn't with me I think I would have thrown a shit fit LOL I believe I heard him right when he said "We really don't even let people sit in these" then I got the "Well you need a deposit to test drive it and even then you might not be able to leave the parking lot" (or something like that). I finally get him to let me at least SIT in one and I get in and low and behold its got 66 miles on it. No one is driving these huh?! The OTHER dealer was going to give me a BREAK and give me $500 back of STICKER on a demo with 5000 miles on it ROFL.

SERIOUSLY.

Yes. Based on your experience with 2 salesman, every single sales person is useless.. Did you speak with their managers?

good to know it's a company wide problem and not regionally that way.

Nope. Didn't want to after dealing with him. 3 experiences with the same result. Obviously this is because no one is talking to the managers. lol

yes, this is due to the fact that they havent been selling cars for the last 3 years, so they only people they could convince to live off of $10k a year in commissions are inconsiderate assholes

There are a few good Dodge sales people out there. I stopped in to the local Dodge dealer (Monroe Dodge) last week to check out the new Ram trucks. The salesman was very helpful and actually knew the product he was selling. But I just didn't care for the Ram trucks after driving them. On the other hand the Ford sales guy I have bought Five new vehicles from since 08 has a hard time calling or emailing me back. Might be time to find a new dealer.

How are you liking yours, Chris?

Well I loved my first one so much that I had to get another if that answers the question :D I love it, it does lack a little bit in the cutting edge radio tech department and is on the older GMLAN bus not Global A but it's still a fantastic overall driving experience. It's deceptively fast even stock, I'm just starting to mod this thing a bit now.

Nah. I want to replace both the Jeep and Focus with new vehicles and the CTS-v would be I'm guessing about a grand a month for a lease.

Probably in that area yes :(

You spent 3hrs with the Ford guy and he couldn't close the sale? If I spent 3hrs with someone and they didn't buy, I'd be looking in the mirror to see what I did wrong.

Don't bother asking for a test drive in a BOSS, Shelby, Raptor or (not released) Focus ST unless you have a signed buyers order and plan on taking delivery that day. I know that sounds shitty, but putting miles or taking a risk of damage on a limited production isn't worth it to a dealer.

If you say that's stupid, a month ago I sent a customer out for a test drive in just a Taurus SEL and the customer was rear ended by some stupid bitch not paying attention. She didn't even tap the brakes. Now we are on the hook for 9k since she pushed him into the car in front of him. It happen less than 100 yards from the dealership. Sure we could have claimed it on insurance, but as everyone knows claims=rate hikes.

I'm not upset about the test driving the SRT vehicles. I understand that to some extent. It's all of the other stuff.

He didn't close the deal because I'm waiting on a piece of information from work before I buy. Otherwise he would have had a sale as fast I could get in touch with you to get pricing info from you.

I was in a Dodge dealer last week (same dealer Chris got his SRT from) and the sales guy was kind of being a dick to me through out most of my time there. Chris over heard part of our convo while I was at his dealership picking up the Sierra, he was really being an ass.

The way the Dickbag Dodge explained the SRT vehicles to me is that some people buy them as collector cars, and there for they want the lowest possible miles on them. They're willing to dealer-hop to find one with the lowest miles possible. So to keep from getting out sold, they wont let you test drive them.

I dont think I'd ever spend that much on a vehicle I couldnt take for a spin.

I just don't understand how dealers can expect people to be OK with signing a buyers order without knowing how the car feels on the road. I get the reason for wanting that extra protection. I just wouldn't feel comfortable spending that kind of money on something without being able to see how it actually performs first.

By the way Justin, maybe it's the vehicle I test drove, but I hated the RAM and the way it rode etc... Though honestly my opinion of the vehicle was already pretty low thanks to the sales guy.
