Learning how to deal / get through life without
debt ("credit") is a much better idea & plan.

You DO need to build credit to buy/obtain big ticket items later on in life at a better % rate... Car, House, Business.

Make sure the card is in her name only. Round stated income up by at least $100K. Enjoy your shopping spree.

^ i don't anticipate paying $500k in cash for a house - that's not realistic.

there is absolutely no reason to be afraid of credit cards - if you don't have the $, don't buy it. with that said, mine are all through my bank.

"Online" may not be the best of terms. Unless you KNOW the lender, you could wind up with some serious interest and fees. Initial terms for "Bubbabank" might look good, but miss one sentence in the fine print... I assume she's looking to establish new credit? Have her go through her bank. Credit is a wonderful tool that can bite you in the ass, no, more like consume you if you lose control of your spending.

Credit cards are a convenience. Just a little common sense in their use is required as in don't use them for loans. If you can't pay the bill in full, you're not in control.

Does she have any credit history? If not, she might not be approved for a credit card.

A good way to build your credit is to open a secured credit card. The way it works is that you deposit a couple of hundred bucks into your account and that is your credit limit. Use it and pay it off every month to avoid interest fees (like any other card).

When you build up some credit and don't need the card anymore, you get all of your deposited money back.

Here is one I have used in the past:
