Apple car play

Anyone know if the 2015 gmc head units can be updated with car play. 2016 looks identical from consumer view. Not sure if there was a part number change.

mvi can do it. But its not a software change

Hmmm ok, took the face off, can easily get to the unit. Just need to find the new part number to swap it out with

The Hmi , USB and radio unit have to be changed

The radio is behind the display. The HMI is behind the glove box. The USB receptacle is also different and CarPlay will not work without changing the port.

To do it right for true integration everything on the most bus needs to be changed, hmi, radio, and cluster. Media disc player had some minor tweaks but will work ok.

Ps my company does the programming for MVI including the custom retrofit and unlocking

Oh FYI if you DONT have NAV (and don't want it IE apple maps) I am going to be selling my development non nav unit here shortly if you want to start the retrofit.

I do have navy on mine currently, I will keep that in mind though
