Noticed these on my porch today. They're up high on the wall

Mud dauber nest

Wasp type thingys. We had them all over down south. Never saw them much before in Michigan, however Michigan was always city life compared to out in the country like Tennessee

I get mud daubers all the time at my office in St Clair Shores. Even though the wasps themselves look menacing, they are harmless. Keep them around, they will happily rid you of spiders ;) They live solitary lives, and would much rather sting a spider to feed to their larvae instead of wasting the venom on a pesky human.
