Anyone here do folding@home or use Gridcoin?

I haven't used it yet. I wonder if I can use CUDA cores to calculate the algorithm? My friend used to mine Bitcoin with a bunch of AMD Radeon cards because they did it a lot faster than your typical desktop CPU.

Yes you can. But I am actually having an issue getting my network online with the wallet for some reason. But, I am using the newest of everything so there is a chance it's a simple setting some where.

My current machine is:
Intel 6700k
DDR4 2666 @16gb
Intel 750 SSD 400gb
GTX980

Nothing overclocked, and it crunches through these projects pretty fast, So why not try to get paid for it. My CPU finishes projects in about 4-5 hours per core and my GPU +1 CPU core does a project in about 3-5 minutes.

Damn that's fast. I might have to do that. I know your 980 has a few more CUDA cores than my 970, so it'll take a bit longer for me.

Once again, another thread that Tin comments in that I don't understand...lol.

I do kind of understand Bitcoin, sort of.

Yeah, I was actually surprised to when I first saw them completing so fast. I wanted to do a comparison on similar projects to see what they would run like without the GPU so I turned it off. After the first full set, I turned my GPU back on. The only down fall is it only runs 1 GPU project at a time.

I was running a new project last night though. It must be a massive project as it uses multiple CPU cores and my GPU core and has a run time of 8 hours! I should get some massive returns for that. A buddy of mine, saw my machine and decided to build one. But because he likes to have the better. He has 2 GTX980's. But he has a slower SSD than mine. So it's all good. Otherwise, our machines are bastard twins.

Don't feel bad. I have been running folding programs since 2003. But only just found out I could have been collecting gridcoins/bitcoins for it. Imagine 12 years of research for free! But oh well, We shall see how it goes.I was never in it for money any ways.

There was some dude in Sweden that mined bitcoin when it was first available. He mined what was worth $27 at the time and forgot about it for a few years. Now his stash is worth $800k. Nice ROI

Nice. I plan to exchange my grid coins for bitcoin once I get decent chunks. But that may be a little while. Currently 1 grid coin = $0.02
Until my account matures and I get credit for my research work, I am not sure how much or how fast the coins will come in.
