Amazing food: There's a reason the wait is so long, and it's certainly not for Taco Bell quality food. Be prepared to wait, and be prepared to have some of the best Mexican food in Oakland County. Big THANKS to them for also honoring our gift certificate that was issued 2 years ago before the fire. That's quality service, and shows they appreciate & value their customers.

Best of the Best!: I am a Mexican American and I have been to many authentic restaurants. This one takes the cake. It's the best Mexican food you will ever taste. You will actually be served by Mexicans that specialize in this kind of food. It was involved in a fire about one year ago and is being completely rebuild. It will be built to the best of standards in authentic culture. It's a little different now. More of a bar like atmosphere and loud music. It is a long wait to get in on the weekends but worth the wait. I would recommend going during the week to get more of a restaurant feel and not so many people, crowds and loud music and noise.

awesome place to eat: i love going to the cantina. before it burnt down, me and my family went there for a wonderful meal at least three times a wk. sadly, my brother in law (firefighter) watched it burn down, tried to save it, but we all know what happened. Finally, it is back up, and as perfect as it was before it went down. yes, the one in Fenton is great too, but is was such a long drive for me. i am so happy sagebrush is back. i love it, i am going tonight.

I've been to the one in Fenton a few times .. It's decent - certainly not the 'greatest' or 'best' Mexican food available though. They have good Margaritas, I've heard..

I challenge people to finish eating their "Wet Super Burrito with Extra Cheese on top " or
" Their Beef Nacho with extra cheese " go with your wife and order those and thats all and you will be taking home some food in a doggie bag.
Their Nacho Chips are Home Made and the Best, and NOBODY can Match their Home Made SALSA It is the ABSOLUTE BEST And Nobody has that Great of SALSA Anywhere that we have been!

Want the Best Server ask for Eric or Melvin and tell them they were Highly recommended on Motown Muscle............Melvin is managing the place now also.

all that with 2 pops cost about $18 for two people!

Mexican food, FTW. I like to goto On The Border, in Novi. I love thier Margaritas, and they have Happy hour during the week (4pm-7pm) 18oz Margaritas $4.25. Yum Yum.

with all due respect "on the border" is ok, But over priced small portion sizes and NO WHERE NEAR as Great as SAGEBRUSH.

Totally Different Class and TOO Comercialized in comparison, but we like the Queso cheese dip at on the border.

Yes according to ALL that have been to Both places, YES! All I speak with.

Well, "All" can't be wrong I guess! I have never been there, but I have spent a lot of time at both Xochi's and Mexico in general, and I can assure you that Xochi's is by FAR the most authentic, down to the non-English speaking Waitresses. And they have the best Guacamole in the world. And I asked "All" the people who have been around the world too.

I jest People when I say "the world"

But everyone I speak with says so.

And for those who are "Purest" & concerned with "most authentic" they may find SAGEBRUSH more Tex Mex, but WHO CARES ? , Certainly not my wife or I, Those kind of places serve tiny portions and have more in common with people who like "European Size Portions" Authentic is Not always a good thing, Americanized Mexican is Best in the opinion of those who go to The SAGEBRUSH for the most part, but if you read earlier in this post even Mexican Americans think that it is the Best Local Joint.

Reading this thread makes me feel as if I've watched a commercial.

No, I cannot agree that [monster jam announcer voice]SAGEBRUSH CANTINA-INA-INA[. . . ] serves the best Mexican food or salsa. Yea, it's better than Taco Bell, Moe's, Qdoba, Chipolte, and the like, but definitely not the best in metro Detroit.

Better salsa than Xochi's? pffffftttt!!!

Question:

What is the best thing to get at Xochi's ?
And is it a Large Portion ?

I am going down to mexican town just for this before Labor Day, I need to go for my own opinion, All though I have been told dont bother it's not worth it when there is Sagebrush so much closer.

Sagebrush is definitely very good, one of the best for sure. I still love Mexican Village too. There is a place in Pontiac called Trini & Carmens that I never knew of and tried recently and that was also very good. I love Mexican food! Yum!
