Anyone ever have to go to small claims court?

Well I'll save the story for later, but I am owed $500 and rather than get myself in trouble I think I will go the small claims route. Anyone ever done it? Got any tips? This is a whole new thing for me....lol
 
Well if I don't get the money I don't get it. But to know they have a judgement against them will make me smile.

Are you owed by a person or business?
I had a problem with an auto repair shop that I was suing in small claims for $1000.
The owner got an attorney in court and the judge said to me that it was in my best interest to get an attorney for my self....To retain one, it would of cost me $500!
I told the Roseville Judge, "thats ok I'm ready right now..Let me state my case and the that guy who ripped me off can state his" Judge said nope!
"reset this case in 2 weeks"
The guy started laughing at me so I started calling him a P*ssy and said I was going to kick his ass all over the parking lot soon as we walk out.....The judge had the bailiff escort me to my car :lol:

Another words, I'd find someone to collect it for you who would charge cheaper then a lawyer.
 
Its a person, well actually two people. Well see what happens. I am not worried about them getting a lawyer, if they can't pay me $500, they don't have the money for a lawyer.

Small Claims Court (SCC) is great! It is cheap & very easy to
use. Two things that can / will work in ones advantage is:

1) A person suing a company.
2) Being the party bring suit.

So if you're suing a company the odds are good for you.

Many times by simply filing a suit & serving the notice,
the other party will PAY YOU BEFORE court.
 
i had one experience. I was young around 18 years old and bought a t5 from a guy downriver that had a shop, i was told it was a worldclass, but then when i got it back and inspected it i found that it was a early 80s version, and the markings on the case had been drilled out to hide the face it wasnt a world class. I then took the tailshaft off to inspect everything and make sure i was right and i found dirt in the shifter housing, etc. I called the guy back and got into a huge argument with him because he didnt want to take it back since i took it apart and verified it wasnt what i was told(even though i put it back together just fine) He was a FUCKING DOUSCHE and we got into it pretty bad over the phone. I took him to small claims, he tried to make a deal with me before we went in (exhanging my trans for another wc t5, plus a extra bit of money) I was so disgusted with this guy i went into the court with all my documentation on why it wasnt the transmission i originally purchased and the judge bitched out the guy pretty bad, and he even talked back to her which made it GREAT for me. Then we went into the parking lot and he gave me my money back and i have him his shit back.
