Anyone else think Sprint's coverage sucks??

I've been a loyal Sprint (cell) customer for about 10 years. I currently have 2 4G smart phones and within the last 6 months it's been more than rediulous how poor the reception is with both phones. Dropped calls & crappy coverage areas for data/calls have really pissed me off. I've complained multiple times to them and each time they attempt to reprogram each device and throw a $25 discount as a customer service gesture. I live in Grosse Pointe and most of my area gets terrible reception. My contract is up next month and I'm strongly considering not taking on another 2 year contract. **I currently pay $120/month for unlimited use for both phones so I personall think that this rate is hard to beat**

I also have a Verizon work phone and have yet experienced a dropped call or issue. Unfortunatly, their plans are quite a bit more than wha I'm paying.

Does anyone else experience this same coverage issue with Sprint?? I just don't know how much longer I can deal with this??

I have called sprint and bitched too, They said they are updating the towers. Just keep calling and getting your discount monthly. When I talked to them yesterday they said the work in our area should be done mid this month.

Glad I'm not the only one. They're basically saying the same damn thing to me too. What I think is screwed up is the fact that I'm paying for a 4G phone, but not receiving 4G coverage. But, like they keep saying, it's coming........

Yeah the quality of service has gone down the last year and a half. I live and work in Sterling Heights. This past summer it was real bad but after a few weeks it got better. Sprints prices are hard to beat that's why I stayed

Spint does suck.. Reception is bad. My Samsung GS3 shows 3g, I guess Detroit area is dead last for 4g network

Yes, Sprint's service sucks. Verizon is more expensive but for a very good reason.

I have had verizon for about 4 years now..i switched to Sprint a few months back when my contract was up...it was less $ per month..2nd day with the phone i tried to send a text 14x to no avail, that along with dropping calls left and right..they said it was the phone, brought it back, they gave me another new phone, same thing, 2 days later, i returned the phone, went back to Verizon. End of story.

I guess I'm the minority. Been with Sprint for over 10 years. 4 phones currently. Rarely if ever drop a call. Hell, I even get a couple of bars at Milan.

When my family moved to Mi in 2002, you had to walk out into the middle of the street to get any bars. It got better over time, but I've been with ATT since '09, and would never even consider going back.

Evo 4g with Sprint in Saint Clair Shores. Really horrible reception in my house. Anywhere I am, my 3g service goes in and out. Calls dropped and no service where Tmobile and Verizon have 4g. I have unlimited data, slow unlimted data.

I've been with Sprint for about 10 years and always liked them up until the last year or so. Why am I paying for 4g and not getting it? And the 3g data sucks just about anywhere indoors.

I travel a lot as a pilot, and I have Sprint. Service in Michigan SUCKS big time, but outside of Michigan, its great. In Bangor, Maine, I can get 4G speeds on 3G network. I ave amazing service in Maui (3G and 4G), New York (3G and 4G), Washington D.C. (3G and 4G), Chicago, all over in Texas (3G and 4G), Atlanta, etc.

I'm giving them some time. They just got a big cash infusion and they are upgrading their 3G and 4G network. Part of the problem was the whole Nextel towers and trying to get off the iDEN network for them, which cost a lot of money and time.

Aside from Sprint not having 4G anywhere here but downtown Detroit, your phone is only 3G ;). I have my Nexus 4 now, and T-Mobile has been great, getting 14 to 26Mb. With Sprint I was getting 100 to 200kb. Its nice paying only $50 and some change not having a subsidized phone :D

I had Sprint for over 10 years and more phones then anyone could imagine.. I was done... Went to Verizon and never had a problem... Suck it Sprint...

Sprint doesn't work up here. Verizon and ATT are biggies and work almost everywhere, I know some transplant people who have Sprint and their phones don't work more often than they do. I realize most of you don't live up here in BFE like me but that's the status of reception in Northern Michigan, FYI.

Im sure its gotten better since you relocated. 10 years ago when Id go to the Tawas area, cell phones didnt work, period.

For 10+ years I've always had great voice reception and perfect call quality with Sprint. When possible to compare, I always saw better reception than Verizon (or equal. I was never with less reception than a Verizon phone). This goes from where I used to live in MA to here in MI, and even when I travel around the country. Never at a loss for voice coverage.

Data speed, on the other hand, is not even comparable. Sprint's speed fucking sucks and even 4G is slow as shit compared to the competitors. I can't believe it's not outright killing them (or maybe it is, but I haven't heard).

I just upgraded us to S3s; I should have spent the extra $10-20 per month and jumped to get a similar plan on Verizon. I don't need unlimited data, I found that I only use enough that would've put the comparable Verizon plan nearly in line w/my Sprint pricing. If I weren't so busy and traveling 4 days out of every week during the timeframe I had to cancel the upgrade, I would have. Chalk it up to laziness and being "used to it" by now. I've always been patient and 2+ years later with still no 4G, which is now outdated anyway, it's inexcusable. Next time we have the option, I'm looking into jumping ship.

One last thought though, you're no longer paying for 4G service. Since they failed to provide 4G to most everybody, they changed that fee to a "smartphone fee" so that we now have no argument in their eyes. So good luck using that to your advantage if you call to complain, as if they'd care anyway.

I've had sprint since 02 and am about tired of there excuses..."tower issues", im in monroe county and its ok but if i go up north(clare, isabella county area) my service is horrible but my family members with verizon have no problems...ever! My contract is up with sprint next month and im considering verizon but i just wish verizon could match my bill.......decisions decisions......

You can cancel with Sprint within your final month and not be charged an ETF. I still had 29 days to go on my contract and didnt have to pay anything when I dumped them.
