Anyone else following this mars lander story?

any oil on Mars

Wouldnt matter we couldnt touch it anyways, we might endanger some unknown species of mars rat.

But in all seriousness.. those pictures are wild. Its crazy that these are pictures from 422 million miles away! I read that it takes 15 minutes for a radio signal to make it to earth from the lander... Space rocks

yep, even if it was there and we could get it back the hippies/eco-nuts would be against it

It's one of the most amazing things to happen in science in my lifetime. We took a 400 pound space craft, sent it 420 MILLION miles from the Earth, and hit the planned landing area on Mars (target on Mars was smaller the size of Long Island).

Now tell me that the USA is not the greatest MF'n country in the world!!

Did you watch any of the animation of videos of it landing? Amazing stuff. Ive got a new found interest in Astronomy and space.. I might have to apply at NASA one day as well as the DOD.

I had my full nerd on Sunday. Watching the NASA channel. We have some of he most brilliant people in the world here in the USA.

The picture from the probe/orbiter circling Mars that captured the Mars Phoenix lander with the parachute open is mind boggling.

and yet somehow, we cant figure out how to make a car run on water...:jagoff:

did anyone catch this? LOL...

"The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter turned its UHF radio off, possibly because of a cosmic ray, cutting off communications with the lander, said Fuk Li, manager of the Mars exploration program for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif"

Gotta love it. Leave it to a guy named fuk to manage the situation!
