I have never had anything go wrong with those sites. It's usually a crapshoot to who is the cheapest. I've used Delta.com, Priceline, and Expedia without any problems. Choose a flight, choose a hotel, give them your credit card. Bam.
That's what I thought it would be too. Now imagine you choose a flight, give them the info, they charge your card, then send you an email saying flight status has changed, the flight is $299, click here to book" yet you have already been charged and do not want the flight at the $299 price.
Then you get to try to explain what happened to a call center and argue about getting money back that they shouldn't have taken in the first place.
With priceline when you choose a flight, give the info, it will give a little popup screen saying "Negotiating" but if the flight is unavailable it will tell you so and not charge you, however expedia charged me even though the flight was not available.
