Any recommendations on landscapers (Grading yard & laying sod)

I need to have my ~2500 sq/ft backyard in Detroit graded and sod put down.

Anybody have any recommendations of somebody that could do it? I need to have it done by this weekend.

Thanks!

I would recommend A1 Trombley. They did my yard in GPP - tractor, dirt, grading, fill, and sod. I doubt they will get anything done this week though, but you could try. You get the best rates if you get it right from the sod farms up on I69.

I recently purchased ~1000 sq/ft of sod from Olivers on 24/north Ave. 40 cents sq/ft.

I need approximately 30ft x 50ft of sod. So based on your $0.40 per sq/ft i would spend $600. Did you install it yourself? I would need the same 30x50 area existing sod ripped up and the dirt graded before new sod is laid.

When I went to Trombley, they charged me about the same price per foot plus about the same price as it cost to install it. They charged a reasonable price for topsoil and the fill was cheap or free (I had 20 yards of fill too).

Ripping up sod and disposing it is not cheap... most dumpster rentals won't even take sod.

Yes. I installed myself. The area I installed in wasn't previously grass (had a bunch of trees/plants/shrubs). I disposed of some of the old soil, laid down some fresh top soil, laid down the sod, and made a transition to the grass that it butted up to.

I had a few areas that I was working in and tilled it with hand tools. With as much area as you're talking with in one spot, renting a rototiller is absolutely your best bet.

Installing the sod was easy. Wet the soil. Roll out sod. Water the sod. Use either a roller or a tamper (what I used) to get the roots to seat.
