Any mechanics in the Rochester area?

I believe on those most commonly it is something spark related. I konw i had one that woudlnt start only after running for a period of time and it turned out to be the ignission module. I would check coil and distributer.

What year S-10?

If its a 4.3 it may be the fuel pump (common problem)

get a squirt bottle full of gas an squirt some down the Throttle body and see if it runs.

(just trying to Isolate the problem.)

Another common thing is if it ran out of gas - the fuel pump doesn't have enough power to push the air out of the lines - so you turn the key on and check if its moving fuel by giving the schrader valve a love tap with a small catch bucket and or rag handy incase fuel does come out :)

I had one with a Spider Injector problem. If it has that system I'd check that out too. They're like $300 from ebay. Forgot the proper term for them but they're there...

*EDIT* Called a CPI Unit....

late 90's 4cylinder ?? hm ignition problems fiarly unlikely. thats a very robust ignition system. check for spark if you have spark then you have crank sensor. Look in the TB with the lid off of it and see if you get fuel spray. If no spray suspect pump and check for signal and hot B+ at injector. Have seen a few injector/fp relays byte the dust.
