Another whats it worth thread: WRX

I'm looking at an 02 WRX sedan to DD through the winter. Assuming the car is in decent shape with 100k on it I'm thinking it should be worth 6k+. Thoughts? Anything in particular to look for on these cars?

Just went through my 2004 WRX I picked up as a DD. Timing belt/Tensioner/Pulleys, not a hard job. I'd add steering rack bushings and front sway bar end links to that list, they are cheap and easy to replace.

Averaging 26mpg out of a tank in country driving, no complaints yet.
Small interior in the sedan, a blast to drive. I'd recommend paying a little more for a nicer car, you'll like it.

So the no Mobil1 is true?

Thanks for the tips guys.

$6k for a bugeye with 100k miles is a good price. . . if it's not a total shit bomb of a car, has not been beaten hard, and has not been running on mobil1.

At 100k it will need timing belt; plugs; change all fluids; hopefully wheel bearings and struts are in good shape; make sure that there is no coolant in the oil; compression/leakdown is a good idea; you should think about going with an aftermarket catless up-pipe to prevent catalyst breaking up and killing the turbo; 5 speed is probably a PITA to get into 1st and R while rolling, but make sure that the synchros are good; otherwise these are very good cars and a fvck load of fun in the snow.

If you need any further help with them, shoot me a pm or email ([email protected]).
