airbag removal tool

I need to change the clockspring in my '03 Chevy Venture. Do I need the airbag removal tool or can I get by without it and use some screwdrivers instead?

I have always used a smallish screwdriver or some sort of a pick.

i use a small phillips. little tab inside you have to push

no sure about how the clips work on a chevy work but i pull ford ones constantly and i use a piece of welding rod with the coating chipped off bent like an L. works really good.
