Anyone know of anyone looking for a couple? I have a 6 year old male (not fixed) and a 2 1/2 year old female (fixed) that I'm looking to get rid of. With an almost 2 year old kid and another coming in a couple weeks, this house is way too small and they are driving me nuts. They are just like kids themselves. Great manner and listen really well, just too much for us to handle anymore. I hate to ship them off to the humane society, but might be our only alternative. Also, they are pure breds with papers.

I hate to see things like this... Pets are a much greater responsibility then most people recognize. They are not disposable like old clothes.

...you pretty much summed it up right there.

Taking dogs that old to the humane society is usually a death sentence.

Have you checked into breed specific rescue organizations?
For the dogs sake, I hope you do EVERYTHING you can to find them a home that deserves them. You at least owe them that much, sounds like they were there for you EVERY DAY.

I know, it sucks to get rid of them. When you get them you never think ahead to what will be if you got a family or things like that. Even simple things like going up north to my parents place is a chore, i have to take two trucks, my wife in one with the kid and one dog and me in the other truck with the other dog. With day to day expenses being so much money anymore its rough. I am looking into a local rescue for purebreads.

I was in your postion a long time ago with one dog, I ended up finding him a good home but to this day I still regret that decision. He had no idea what was going on, he didn't do anything wrong, I was greedy and made the wrong decision... I've learned plenty since then and would hate to see anyone else make the same mistake.

Good Luck.

I think we are going to price out doing a pen outside with a doghouse on pea gravel. That way they can be outdoor dogs, that would be a big help. This way we can leave them outside.

How is leaving them outside going to help with the issues you have above?
That would just make them miserable and wondering why they can't be inside with their family any more...

Honestly you're better off finding them a good home instead of banishing them to the yard.

Not to be rude, but you may have not thought ahead when you got them, but there are plenty of people who do.

It really is saddening how many animals are killed at shelters because someone didn't have the forethought to realize they couldn't make a life time commitment to their companions.

I don't think leaving them outside is going to solve your problem. Not to mention a proper outside set up will cost a decent amount of money for 2 dogs. We really don't live in a climate where dogs can be outside 24/7, 365 days a year. Not to mention it really isn't proper care for any pet IMO.

Well I guess I should not have even posted anything in here. Forget I mentioned it, I just thought someone in here might have a place in their home for them. Guess not. Thanks anyways.

I'm not saying someone won't. I was trying to not be rude, but it gets frustrating seeing the same thing over and over :faint:

be that as it may, you crapping up his thread isn't helping him find a home for his dogs.

just a thought.... :)

And maybe it will give him other options as well as help someone else think twice before getting pet that is an east 10-15 year commitment ;)

I didn't bash him, I didn't bitch at him. Maybe you should go back and read what I wrote.

Mostly I was trying to explain that dogs aren't able to be outside 24/7 in the climate we have in this state unless you spend a sum of money to make the proper enclosure, etc.

I have no idea what he can do with his dogs other than take them to the humane society where they more than likely will be euthanized. Every rescue I deal with doesn't take owner surrenders. They are tring to deal with stray and abused animals :icon_frow

At this point none of us are helping him by bickering, so why don't we leave it alone. I will if you will!
