86 Corvette, power falls off at 3k

Roadrage

Easily Irritated
My brother said when he went to get on the freeway, the car just fell on it's face at around 3000rpm. Now it doesnt seem to want to rev up past that. Any thoughts on what to look for?
He did mention he thought the car had an exhaust leak the other day, maybe it is something else he was hearing.

You're going to make me clear the cobwebs out of my memory to try and remember TPI related issues!

If there aren't any codes present I would start with checking the fuel pressure.

The first place I'd look is the catalytic converter, it's pretty common for those to plug up and it will do exactly what you are saying.

 old school hi-tech! I just put a pump in the car a couple weeks ago, so unlikely to be fuel, but I will double check.

I was hoping to hear that. Will deleting the cat on these cause any drivability issues like an OBDII car?

NO. My '88 had 4 cats, we deleted the back two and it made a world of difference. The 86's i beleive only had 2 and they're hard to delete as they're right up there by the manifolds and hard to get to with a sawzall.
