85 5.0 starting prob ...

My uncle called me up today said he has been having problems starting his 85 5.0 vert all stock,so i went and had a look at it tried fooling with it a bit , its not usual problem he can make it run as long asyje key is in cranking position forward, it will run then he stops cranking it , it dies i checked spark getting plenty of it , fuel pressure is good , checked fuses thinking maybe he poped ignition fuse but didn't find anything , reason i starting checking fuses is because he was driving when it stalled, when he went to go pass someone on freeway figured he just reved it up to much going to passthem and then it sent a jolt though something and poped it , any ideas would be great i know we got some amazing stang guys on here so let me know thanks Rob.

if it runs in the start position, and not int he run position, probably the ignition switch, I need to look at a wiring diagram to see if there is anything else that could do it
