8.8 rear info

im going to be useing a 8.8 rear in a street rod project and was wondering the diffrent widths between the years and models they came in, fox, sn95, edge, explorer, t-bird, lincolin, etc.
 
86-93 Mustang (87-88 T-bird/93 Cobra disc brakes)
94-98 Mustang
99-04 Mustang
05-up Mustang
Lincoln Mark 7
Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car
Explorer/Mountaineer and some Rangers
F series trucks
Possibly a few Ford Aerostars too

MN12 Thunbirds/Cougars/Lincoln Mark 8 and 99, 01, 03/04 Cobras have IRS
 
Keep in mind, whenever you "weld" on any part of the axle tube you make the tubes crooked, and the housing will need to be re-straightened.
(you said street rod..I assumed you will be adding rear suspension hardware to the tubes)
 
f150 housing is the best starting point. Easy to remove brackets and wide enough to allow plenty of room to make it into whatever you want.
