'78 Fairmont build

So after a bunch of sand rides, I've decided to build a street car for some cruising a all around "family" type use. After looking at a lot of mustangs and missing out on some good deals along the way, I decided to go with a Fairmont as a built start. Found this one in N. Indiana, a lot of the hard work is done, but still some more to do. I picked up a 50K mile 302 out of a wrecked '90 GT, and already had a Coan c-4 sitting on the shelf waiting for something to go in. I'll keep posting pics, but at this point I don't plan on really doing any body work, try and keep the wimpy street car look if possible.

I forgot to mention, 29K miles on it, it already has an '86 GT tilt steering column swapped in too.

Its a radio delete car, no a/c either

I love seeing more and more of these being built. They really are the red headed step child. Keep us updated on the progress

jake is going to be pissed lol looks like its going to be a nice car when done
Im not pissed lol! I do wish I had some clear turn signal lenses like this car has though. Im still looking for a set but no luck yet. Very nice clean car and im surprised to see another one with bucket seats like mine. You dont see many of them. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks for the compliments guys, now, for the real reasons I bought this particular car

lol, it was that stuff that actually sold me on buying this car, the interior/exterior was just a bonus for the $

Here are the real reasons I bought the car, well, besides the fact it wasn't a mustang that is.

Did some more work over the weekend. 5 lug front conversion so it can go into storage for the winter.

Rotors are '86 Mustang SVO, with bearings for a 2wd ranger to fit my spindles

So I decided to get some more stuff done on the Fairmont before it goes into storage for the winter. 5 lug front conversion.

Since Jake is making me look bad with the amount of progress he is making, I figured I better get my butt in gear this weekend and start making some headway.

started putting the fuel cell into the trunk. Its actually a cell for a houseboat, but it fits really well into my spare tire well and it has a fuel level sending unit built in. I'm just mocking up the battery for the moment, not really sure where I should mount the box, but it looks good in there though.

I threw the mock up engine in there for now, no trans behind it thats why it looks weird. I figured at least I could check header fitment, mount my MSD box, check the radiator and that kind of stuff with it in there. I'll add my intake and carb soon so I can check hood clearance too.

Front stance looks tons better with the engine in, nice and low. My rear wheels don't ship from Centerline until July 9, so the crap tires and wheels will stay on the rear for now.
