ive already got them, i talked to a tuner yesterday, but he says the 72 pound injectors will be to much and i will never get the car to run right(using a moats). i was planing on taking it to lidio as he did the last tune when it was a 302 car and it ran great, just looked into the moats. anyone elces input?

I'm currently working on a 408W with a moates chip with an experienced tuner from eectuning.org.

I have 80# Siemens Deka injectors (just like the FRPP ones but with an EV1 connector) and he says they won't be a problem.

He claims that they are "good" injectors and are faster enough that he can slim the pulse width down to make it not load up at idle.

We will see very soon, but a lot of this seems like opinion. Granted, Lidio has been doing this for a while, but I'd bet that maybe there's more "work" in dealing with that size injector or something.

On a turbo 351, 72# doesn't seem that big at all.

What size did he want you to run?

This.

I have found it is all pref to the tuner at a point. I've had ppl gasp at the size injectors I run for my app saying they are way to large, then I had ppl suggest larger if I ever decided to want more out of the fuel system. I run disc style high-Z injectors.

It makes no sense not to run the 72s, IMO. If the car requires 60s, I'd put at least 80s or 83s in it for future growth. There is nothing wrong with using more injector than you need, until you get so big that idle quality suffers.

A good tuner can make 80# + injectors idle like stock, so I would think 72s would be just fine.

Wait is the issue that you're using the stock EEC and the 72s you have are low impedance? If that's the case, he's correct, you need to use a high impedance injector unless you have a conversion box to allow the stock eec to run a low impedance injector.

Back in the day we would just take the 36# FMS injectors and remove the restrictor plates from the tips. They would end up flowing somewhere near 77# and would be high impedance and thus usable with the stock EEC.

Also, I assume no FMU, right?

I'd run the Siemens/FRPP high impedance 80's. I'm sure Lidio can make them work if he wants to.

these are the ones ive got.

im running stock EEC with lidos chip.

FRYGUY--what would i need to run these? i was thinking about doing a magasquirter.....

To run those injectors (which are low impedance) you will need an "Injector Driver" or a complete aftermarket EFI system.

Some quick searching says the the MegaSquirt can possibly run low impedance injectors, but it may need an add on board to do so.

Check out this thread about Low-Z injectors from eectuning.org:

If it were me, I'd dump those 72's and get some good high-Z injectors of whatever size required.

No idea. How did you end up with them?

bought them off whiplash (DMX) on here, i dident know i needed diffrent ones. got them for 250$ brand new just used for mock up. couldent pass the deal up....guess i shoulda researched it more. ...there up forsale now, if they dont sell by time i am ready to get going, ill either buy a magasquirt (ive just read that i cn tune with it to us eather low or high,) or buy a driver.....i was thinking about going megasquirt anyway so i guess no big deal.
