How do you mount a 5 point without a cage? Is there a way and does it pass tech? Its a 64 with no factory belts and i want to run at the track.

As for passing tech I would really think not. I can't think of a way to try and mount a five point without a cross bar. I found this drawing and I believe this is the only way that is legal.

I think ive seen bolt in horizontal bars for cars that go from b-pillar to b-pillar to bolt the shouler belts to. Not sure how how legit it is though.

I had mine bolted to the floor w/ steel plates top and bottom (use/bought floor mount belts)
Never had it at a track to see if it would pass tech though

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if i can just run a lap belt and get away with it. Im just trying to get it out for the high school nationals to run in the college brackets and thats the only hold up

there is a company that makes belts that attach to the rear seat belts, just find a set of rear belts, and bolt them to the floor behind the rear seat. easy enough to hide when not in use

if you go to a track that isn't very strict on there tech then you might be okay, but if it's anyone that knows what they are looking for they will not let you run a 5pt without a harness bar at the least. mounting the the shoulder straps to the floor or the back seat mounting points is EXTREMELY unsafe as it will compact your spine if you wreck it. look for a Schroth 4pt belt, it will mount to stock locations and is DOT legal.

Im not familiar with your car but is it slow enough you could get away with a factory style lap belt?

5 point NEEDS a 4 point bar at the very least, as you need the roll over protection, no way to lay down sideways as with a factory style shoulder belt setup, you are stuck upright ina 5 point

something to think about before slapping in a 5 point in a car any way you can
