So to make a long story short, I had my 4r70w in my crown vic rebuilt at the dealer under warranty and 2 things caught my attention...

With tune...trans STILL slips 3-4 shift (OD band was replaced b/c was broken)
Withput custom tune on, slips a little bit ONCE and a while

They have XL3 friction mod on the bill, why the FUCK would you put it in an automatic???!?!!

They did not put in a new oil-to-air trans cooler, when the FORD MANUAL says to after changing out hard parts like bands, clutches etc...

Hope someone can help me here...

here is a pic of the bill if anyone cares

Sounds like the line pressure is to low during the direct clutch apply and that the clutch pack may have had damage. There are some easy to implement build up tricks for the 4r70w that make it one seriously stout transmission.

Yes, I know about the JMOD and what not. Im just leary of doing it if the trans is not 100% good. The tune makes the OD slip. So the direct clutch (?) is disengaging too soon before the OD band engages. There should be i think a 1second gap between the two.

So something still isnt right. I will take to dealer soon to discuss the problem. The only thing is that it barely slips w/o the tune on and slips alot with the tune so it will be hard for them test drive it and feel the problem.

I cant take it in with the tune on becuase they will say hell no its your fault.

So im not sure how to get it fixed. I just want a reman trans from the plant.

direct clutch stays on in od.
od in a aode/4r70w/4r75w is od band on. thats all.

factory re mans come from production re builders like Fred Jones in Oklahoma, not from any ford plant.

Call the tunner and ask them what to do about it. It could be that the custom tune has limited shift adaptives. This could be cuasing the slip.

the overdirve engagement is asynchronous. the first 3spds are. To engage overdrive you must turn off apply elemments.

Call me tommorow. I work with these transmissions alot so it does not sound like something that can't be fixed.
