4.6 Mustang question?

Have my eye on a couple different 4.6 mustangs.One is a 98 with 98k (from this site) and one is a 99 with 136k.With the 4.6l motors is there anything that someone should look for with this many miles on it?Like any known items that should be replaced or checked?I am getting rid of my truck, wich has been maintained meticulously.I know every inch of my truck and everything is 100% right on.I just would hate to sell my truck and purchase a can of worms.Thanks for any help..Rob

Motors are stout and last a long time if properly maintained. It's the T-45 trans that usually poses the most problems. No big deal though, they can be found used for a few hundred bucks anyway. Goodluck with your search.

If both engines are stock then the '99 will make a bunch more power. '99-'04 are considered the PI (Power Improved) engines.

However a 98 with 99 Heads is Even faster (higher CR)

I would go with 99 or newer.....The PI motors make MUCH more power.

Good engine either way.

With the 96-98 motor oil burning and smoking would be a concern.

For the price u can find a 99-04 gt for as much as a 130k mile mustabg most likely. keep ur eyes open
