4.6 mod motor guys help...

just recently purchased a 98 cobra, and welll ummm i hate it! What are some things i can do besides pull the motor and throw it away:laugh: , bolt ons-heads swap-intake swap-mass air-throttle body etc. The car has long tubes,h-pipe,4.10 gear,6 speed viper trans,suspension work already done, I'm basically looking for some bolt on's i need to do before i through a sc on it! And opinions on sc's would be great to ie. roots(kb 2.2,whipple) or centrifical intercooled or aftercoooled

LSx swap? :D anyways, IIRC those have charge motion plates, take them out, port them, and close up the holes where the butterfly valves used to be
 
You are going to want to upgrade the heads. I would use the heads off an 03 cobra and get an intake off an 01 cobra (if you dont go with screw type blower)....(small modification may be needed). Upgrade the cams as well. after the SC install you will have yourself a pretty solid 11 sec car, maybe low 12's with limited traction.
 
yeah i would like to go with the twin screw for the instant boost factor, but i'm leaning toward a centrifical with an aftercooler & meth injected, has anyone delt with this mr snow kits?
 
Cams and head owrk are not worth it for cost and will need a tune to get the real power out of it. For example if you throw 1000 dollar cams in it and dont dyno tune you will pick up about 5-8hp lol. Do not do underdrive pulleys on it they cause to much stress on the oil pump. A anderson ford power pipe a 456 gear and a 100 shot you will be in the 11s. or slap a blower on it they say no more them 8psi positive displacement due to the extra strain on the motor down low the rods will shatter. Snow kits shit for the money you can get a anderson meth kit for like 40 percent the price. The IMRC will do really nothing to your motor to unless you dyno tune and do a short runner intake.

You dont want those without a change in the intake, short runners are easy to do your self but you must read up and do some work the runners are only epoxyed in place normal 1-1.5 inchs off all, the best result come when you also cut out the lower on the the intake and raise the cented the same as rhe runner length you shortend it if that makes sense to you.

I still have the MM&FF article when Paul Svynki "whatever" did that to project superfly I believe. So smooth could do it, but I would need the magazine back. :roll:

Yeah you can get decent like 15whp out of just the short runned and not relocating the lower of the intake and welding it
 
If you want to sell the motor let me know.

I would put a Kenne Bell on it and be done.

cams/head work isnt required and too expensive for the return.
 
Get a Vortech or Novi Kit at 10-15psi, your B Style heads are really good for boost but shitty for Na. Dont waste your Time porting the heads, they aleady flow more than that intake can provide. However, once your Supercharged, a Shortrunner works wonders!
