3rd gen trans choice with SBC Stroker

ok so heres the situation at hand .... recently i had my 385 stroker tuned in my camaro ... everything was going good until the 3rd gear power pull, so here my issue do i just rebuild the 700r4 to hold up behind the 385/ will it hold up behind it. in all honesty it probably not gonna see much more (no turbo ect in the future) but if i dont build up the 700r4 i have a 4l80-e that i could put behind it but that too need a rebuild, also a trans controller, harness, convertor, driveshaft and probably some other stuff, if i was going to do a driveshaft i mgiht as well do it once and get the rearend too (thinking a stange 60). so im just trying to figure out what most people would do in this situation ?
 
Need more info. How much street time does the car see? What rear gear? I run a t400. It's great, but I miss no overdrive when it gets on the x-way.
 
yeah, you never realize how much you like overdrive until its gone. it made my mustang unusable. Once i put a 4l80 in it, its like night and day. It was nice driving 80mph to Milan saturday morning and being able to have a conversation, and keep the rpms under 2500 the whole time
