351 m 400 to fox?

hi all i was wondering about putting a 351 m 400 into 89 fox body ? could it be done w/o major mods to engine bay ? would biggiest prob be oil pan /mt mounts? what trans would be good combo with ? reason is i have come across motor for cheap and is bored .60 is nice set up , but is in beat up mud truck , as long as it could go into mustang with no prob i was planning on getting it , any insight would be great thnx.

I think you would end up spending alot of cash getting headers and an oil pan for it. It will always be a slug of a motor too. I am not sure about 351m's but isnt a 60 over bore kind of alot? You would be better off finding a 302 roller motor and building that up. I bet you would go faster too. Wouldnt you have a run a c6 with that too cuz it has a big block bell on it?
 
someone out there makes swap parts. I think alot of the cleveland stuff should fit but don;t qoute me on that.

Don't waste your time. The 351m/400 has little to no performance parts and I don't believe anyone makes headers for that swap. Gor for a 351w or maybe a bigblock. You'll be $$$ ahead.
 
I helped a buddy of mine in highschool do this same exact install and it was nothing but a nightmare. The car had a 281 in it before and the perfomance gains for the money and effort spent were not very benificial. His car always got killed by 302. Just way to big of an engine and not enough power out of it to move it.
 
there is a reason those engnines only came it full size trucks, vans, or commercial vehicles, the dont like to rev
