309rwhp/334rwtq NA GT40P Mustang. Got ole' TOOSLO back on the dyno this eve.

Well, I wrote up a nice long answer to all of your questions and once again it says that a moderator must clear it first, so, check your pm's

That is very impressive and it really dose prove what r&d can get you my dad has an engine that he put together 10 years ago that hasn't been ran but the whole goal of it was 300 hp with stock everything it's a stock bore e7te headed 302 even though there fully ported and has an e cam. honestly think it's far more impressive to make that kind of power out of a setup like yours than the aluminum headed 347 I'm building.

Totally agree! Ever since I went to race at an NMRA event and saw those Factory Stock cars this has been my goal, like I previously stated, there is no way in he__ I can put that kind of $$ into a daily driven bottom end, or the amount they spend getting those unported gt40 heads to flow, but I can take something away from it. There is a classic thread started years ago that is a gt40p 300rwhp thread, early on there were only a handful of guys doing it, but now if you read that, I am one of many, it can be done, just takes commitment and time. When I dropped this exact engine in back in 06 it was a far cry from this, it would typically run 13.00's with a good day in the 12.80's. Other than the rockers I have done nothing to actually add real hp, just other fine tuning/refinements that you are forced into when you can't go out and blow $ on the good stuff:spend: Could I take this setup and drop it into another fox and expect the same results? Not right away that's for sure! Could I go put the car on Joe Blows dyno and run the same exact #'s? Pretty much guarantee no, as they are all different and should be used as tools and not gospel.

Wow, you're lucky. I think my setup only puts out like a mid 2 through an auto and i got alum. heads.

Ok, but you have to remember, that auto is eating up alot more HP in parasitic loss than my 5 speed too. Also, are you running on a stock tune? The dyno owners buddy with the TFS heads hasn't put a tune on it other than for idle. So it's no doubt he's got alot to gain still, even as mild a set up as mine is on the stock tune the car ran like crap, I have actually noticed more in terms of drive-ability than flat out WOT. And I have plenty of opportunity to notice it too, in the summer months I drive the car 85 miles a day which lends itself to a whole lot of tuning opportunities. My fuel mileage has increased nearly 3mpg also.

Good job! Is that a custom ground cam or off the shelf?

It's an AFM B-21 blower cam, but like I said, I didn't just settle on it, I did a lot of running cams through engine simulators to find not the best HP cam but the one that got the car through the 1/4 with the best times and even though it is a blower cam designed for 1.7 rockers it is the one that worked the best on the simulators. That's another place where the dyno owners buddy differs, he is running an alphabet cam and stock gt40 intake and is amazed how mine pulled all the way strong to 6k where his drops off around 5400. Speaking of 1.7 ratio rockers, when I finally went and decided on these FRPP rockers I stuck with the stock 1.6 ratio because Anderson Ford couldn't tell me for sure that I would have good p/v clearance on the explorer long block. They said no problem if it was the factory H.O. but didn't have experience with the GT40P long block, not to mention the heads are pretty well done flowing at .4-.45 lift and even with the 1.6 rockers I'm already beyond that in terms of lift so I couldn't see pushing the lift even more with the 1.7's.

Hmm, I'm noticing the Mt. Pleasant location on the dyno slip. Do they have a dyno there??

Actually his dyno is a mobile outfit, so it's where-ever, but yes, he has a tuning shop there. He is a great, knowledgeable guy that I have turned to whenever I get to a point I need input on tuning and is glad to help out, not to mention, he's got the dyno that makes for a very useful tool, and a fun day if you can gather up enough people! Speaking of that, I did try to post to the forum 3 times the invitations to my dyno party Saturday, for what-ever reason it would say that it had to go through a moderator before being posted, so, I contacted Sparky, and got no response. So aside from the few of you I knew were in the area that I IM'd, I'm sorry.

Nice work on the numbers! What kind of tuner are you using? You mentioned a 70mm TB. What size injectors?
It's a Moates Quarterhorse and I use Binary Editor from Clint Garrity for software, it's the greatest thing, it's WAY less $ than a PMS, and from what I've seen, just as powerful. I almost went with a chip burner and chips when I purchased it but the guys at Moates advised against it unless I was a tuning/dyno shop, said I would regret having to pull the chip and burn it on the bench everytime I wanted to make a change, damn am I glad I listened to them. Yes, it's a 70MM professional products TB and EGR spacer to compliment the professional products typhoon intake (edelbrock rpm knockoff) and I run Ford blue top 24lbers and a Holley 190lph pump.

I'm still working at getting my videos from saturdays dyno day up on YouTube and assuming it successfully uploaded when I left this morning my 317-346 pull is posted on my channel without a name other than what the camera calls it, you can check it out at TOOSLO86 channel, I'll get it named and other pulls from the day posted later and put a link up. Speaking of other pulls now, I had to use my first pull to see what this thing did in the same fashion I drive it to work everyday, the only differences is I run through the mufflers and keep my long belt on spinning the power steering pump, in that trim it made 302.8hp and 336lbft, after that is when I popped the race readies and put the short belt on to bypass the power steering pump, just as I do when I race it.

I'm also thinking about starting a thread to show the differences in the addition of the rollers/driveshaft since when I was looking into this there really wasn't any "good, solid" info out there, just a lot of here-sea, only thing is I wish I could have done it all in one day to solidify it.

The dyno party would have been fun, too bad I broke my t-5 on Sunday racing :s. Maybe next year though ^.^

Well, the dyno party was the day before sunday! Yea, looks like we are going to do it again next season, maybe by then I'll be able to post!

Thanks
