Does anyone know any info such as where the powerband is and redline, is on a 68' 289. I tried researching but i couldnt find anything. Also what types of bolt ons could i give it to "wake it up"?
It already has a holley 1850, edelbrock cobra intake, e7 heads, and a 4:11 gear.

well, would i be able to feel the powerband? i sorta would like to use these heads, i cant afford another pair. i am just trying to figure out smaller mods because it feels as if it should be a bit faster.
 
its not a 2 stroke, its not going to have a big hit on the powerband. I would rev it to 5500 max. its a 289 with mediocre parts on it, dont expect 10 second power, or even 12's....
 
i was just expecting it to feel like a mustang would. The way my trans is set it only revs to 4k. would i feel the powerband sorta with that?
 
my 67 289, is the 271 horse motor, power starts at about 1800 and is dead by 5200, they are not torque monters and dont make power reving high. Like another poster mentioned they are marginal internals, to "feel" more you will need more upgrades, more free flowing heads, better intake, cam, carb and exhaust
