Do you think this tire rubs fore and aft? I don't car about the inner wheel well just the ground effects fore and aft.

I found this picture and want to run a 10" wheel with the MT 275/60/15. I had a 28 " slick before and it expanded and rubbed like mad. I was hoping the drag radial wouldn't expand as much and with solid suspension the rear end is square.

Anyone running this tire?

Rob do you have adjustable uppers and lowers? If so just add a little length to the lowers to center the wheel in the wheel well, then they shouldn't rub. There are alot of guys running a 28" slick with no problems out there, most are running adjustable lowers just for that reason.

JT, I do have adjustable uppers and lowers and the rear end is centered in the wheel well. You guys with no ground effects can run 28"s no problem that's why I was so disappointed when my rubbed.

This isn't quite the view you are probably looking for, but I can assure you, they do not rub fore and aft. I run them on a 10 inch rim (never at the track again though ). If you want, I can try to get a side view of them for you in the next day or so. They do not grow anywhere near as much a slick.

That looks tough but a side view would help. Why won't you run them at the track?

I will try to get more pics for you this weekend. As for why I won't run them at the track again... here's why. I ran every stinking air-pressure the DR "guru's" told me, and still no hook. I tried their suspension suggestions, and still no hook. My car is typically launched at 6800 RPM, and the highest I could leave without completely blowing the tires off was around 3400 RPM (Umm, I shift at 7500, so that was a shit-pile of RPM to make up). The best 60' I could get out of them was 1.8s (Complete Garbage!). Then it was brought to my attention that DR's are meant for heavier cars...Mine weighs in around 3000#, so I figured, its not heavy but its not exactly a lightweight either. Then they tell me, "oh, you have a 5 speed...Good luck?!". Yeah I now know why. Then when I told them the gearing, they were amazed I even got the thing to leave at all...4.88's are not DR friendly. Oh, and then the guy's at Milan were giving me a hard time for ripping the rubber off the launch area.

Basically they were a horrible addition to my setup, and that is the reason I have since relieved them of their track duties.. The tires CAN HOOK, but just not with the N/A setup I have. I have plenty of friends running them, and they often stand the cars up on the bumpers. But they also run a much larger size with a ton more side-wall. My car is purely setup to run on a slick and it hooks like a mofo!!! Here's a pic of it on a 28x10.5 ET drag.

i have the 275/60's on my car with an 8 inch wheel though. from what i have heard you dont need to do anything to the ground effects since the tire dont grow like a slick does. here are two pictures of mine. i had already cut the rear ground effect since i had slicks on it before. but this might give you an idea of what your will be like. im also not sure how the cobra ground effects would change room back there or not.

Thanks Mike for the pics. I don't feel comfortable looking at the front side. I'll stick with the 26"s.

Hey Quick LX do you have your wheel lips rolled? It kind of looks like it. Is your car stock height?

One thing you have to remember is that the tire only grows in FRONT. You can set the tires back almost all the way, as long as you leave room in front. I just learned this in 05, my tires cleared by a mile when the car went 140mph, at 155mph they rubbed bad. We moved them all the way back and had no more rubbing issues.

I did run a 28x10.5 on a 10" wheel on my old Mustang GT back in the day, and the tires did rub the ground effects, I was never able to make them clear all the time.

What type of wheels are offset are you running? Stock axle width?

Thanks

Yes the wheel lips are rolled.

The car has been lowered. With stock springs the car sat almost 3 inches higher.
