2016 Diesel F350 vs gas? costs?

I would go diesel for the next truck. I used to pull a 24' enclosed race trailer with a diesel Excursion and loved it...towed great. Now I pull a 32' TT with a 2015 Suburban and don't care for it at all. It just makes it more stressful than it needs to be. My next truck is going to be a F250 CC diesel, then I won't have to worry about it anymore.

If you go 3/4 ton, you also get the bigger brakes, hubs, etc. Towing in most of Michigan and Ohio is a joke. Haul an 8 or 10K trailer through Pennsylvania or down through Kentucky? The smaller truck will be straining... And yes, the diesel costs more. If you hook your trailer up more than a half dozen times a year, you can justify the bigger unit.

Towing with a larger parent vehicle is worth its weight in gold. My 2015 F-150 gets more interesting than I'd like in adverse conditions while towing my 23' enclosed snowmobile trailer (2450# empty)...it's a giant sail and you can really feel it with a lighter truck. It's even worse than it was with my 2011 F-150. Yes, it's that noticeable. I would expect a camper/travel trailer to have the same effect.

As Greg said above...all the larger suspension/powertrain components are a nice bonus too. And for the $$$ you're talking, you won't lose your a$$ on it as much when/if you decide to unload it. The depreciation hit alone is worth going to the Superduty.

All good feedback. For now I can live with a 6.2 Gasser F250, we don't plan any long trips over the next 4 years, kids are young and our current range is 4-6 hour drives at the most, I'd like the larger vehicle over the F150. Thinking this fall pick up a 2017 F250 when the 2018's come out and there are decent rebates on them.

What kind of Stabilizer Hitch setups are you guys using as I know that can make a huge difference in how any truck performs when pulling?

Should use Curt hitches, I work for them

I'll keep that in mind, I think my second Anti Sway bar I bought had "Plymouth, MI" on it, but not a Curt. Pro-series by Reese. Dealer put on a Reese Pro Series kit with 1200lb round bars. Was okay but needed the second anti sway bar.

Bought this. Was to nice and good of a deal to pass up. 31' Fleetwood Wilderness with Bunks and full slide-out. Gave me his full Hitch setup, new Tires, mint inside, new Propane Tanks full, etc... It is from our good friends who just splurged on a Brand New one. Great shape!

Sweet! We upgraded this year from our 23' TT to a new 33' 5th wheel with bunks. Kids are getting bigger and we wanted more space. Also wanted something newer for longer haul trips. Dragging the old one through the UP and multiple states worried me a bit.
