2011 SHO handling under acceleratio

I'm getting ready to order a new 2011 SHO and I had my first test drive last night. I loved everything about the car but one big thing. When I found a good place to test the acceleration, I floored it doing about 25 MPH, and almost imediatly felt a strong pull to the right. I corrected and then felt an overcorrection to the left. I got off the gas and the car settled down right away. I tried again a couple of blocks later from around 40 MPH, and I got similar unpleasant results but not as bad. I love the car but I'm now undecided because if you cant get after it once in a while ...what's the sense in getting all that muscle? Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm reading that the car is supposed to have zero torque steer. The salesman who was riding shotgun told me he'd never seen anything like that before. What's going on???

Might of been breaking all 4 tires loose. According to fords website only AWD option is available in the SHO. AWD cars react a little different then a RWD or FWD car takes a little while to get used to driving one but once you do it's hard to go back. Driving my lincoln compared to my Impreza is a totally different feeling when it gets loose in the snow or rain.

Sounds like a good possibility. The road was clear, smooth, and dry though. If I broke traction with first one side then the other and some torque redirection was going on.......It's hard to know for sure when driving an unfamilar car. Maybe I'll try another test drive and try rolling the power on smoothly instead of mashing it! I hope I can find a way to rationalize my experience because I'm crazy about the car and I'm ready to order one.

Yea I'd try it again maybe a different car who knows that one might of been messed up. Goodl uck they sure are nice looking cars.

Torque steer. What happens when you have a high output FWD car. There's a lot going on to make the phenomena happen, but it's predimonantly the wheel torque pulling the tires around the scrub radius of the suspension. Try a Mazda Speed 3.. It has it like it's a selling feature..
lots of newer cars coming on the market these days with high output FED packages are also built with electric power steering. Lots of capability to dial out the steering wheel tugs with the EPS... see if the SHO comes with it. If it has EPS and it still tugs, either FoMoCo didn't do a good job tuning it, or the system isn't working right.
