2011 Ford Flex rear brake caliper question..

Last night I was working on the wifes 2011 Flex. The rear brake caliper would not compress back in. I was turning the piston clockwise and it basically justs spun in place and now it wont even turn. Is it safe to say I need a new caliper, as this one was probably too far out. The pad was completely gone.

Tan into that on the wife's 2005 Freestyle. Had to replace the caliper. Ended spending $100 on a caliper.

Hangemhigh contacted me via PM and let me know that there was a redesign in the caliper. I traveled 3.4 miles to Suburban ford where I acquired said part for replacement. Total cost was $154.79 with a $50/core.

That Jim aka Ohio Raj is a peach... But yeah.. U didn't answer my question.

Glad you got it worked out.....Just sorry that I couldn't save you any $$$.....I don't know any of those guys at Suburban.

To retract some pistons on select legacy fwd GM cars, they had to be pushed in with mild pressure while rotating clockwise for right rear and counterclockwise for left rear calipers.

Yep, Ford in their infinite wisdom decides to make the left turn clockwise and right to turn counterclockwise.

Sometimes it makes "sense"

There were some F250s in the 80 IIRC that had LF/RF/RR in normal right-hand-thread and the LR was Left-hand-thread due to torque of the driveline and lugs coming loose.

This is probably done for caliper knock-back
