Not enough confirmed people. I had already jumped through hoops to get the day off.

Let's focus on the next race date which will likely be much better (cooler) air..

Low attendace and not many people signed up for it make it hard to justify the club spending the money on the rental. The last Fri rental we had really screwed our budget with the low attendance. So it had to be done. If we can guarantee enough people we could do it. But we can't afford another rental with very few people there. Hence the reason it is getting rescheduled for oct so we can try to confirm people will be there.

I do understand the cost - Just not liking the fact that its 3 days before, and some of us have already taken the day off work to go to this. If it was cancelled 2 weeks ago, I wouldnt have felt so hot about it...

Just pretend it's going to rain or use your day off that is going to be nice to do something else outside

Yea.....that sucks... I learned my lesson a few years back when I organized a milan rental for the vette guys, and then only 3/4 showed up... didnt have to pay too much out of pocket, thanks to some of the guys that were there and chipped in for the no shows..

The following years, I just had everyone prepay up front.. .that way the track is paid for... if you don't show up, oh well... your loss...

I jumped through hoops to get my car done, had to take the day off work, and its gets canceled at the last minute. It will be hard to commit to the next date with how this one was handled - not a good way to boost attendance for another rental. I understand the money issue but I don't understand why it took till 3 days before to figure this out.

Not sure if that was directed to the people who replied? I did prepay - but thanks for the tip.

To there credit the guys refunded my money promptly. That much was appreciated.

90blk - none of us who made plans to race on Friday are happy that too few a number of people registered to keep the event alive. We're really hoping our next event can be in the evening or on a weekend where far more people can show up.

mdhmi - maybe we can post a poll similar to the t shirt thread for people to sign up for the next one so we know how many are signed up vs. how many we need to make it happen? Might be a good way to get people to pre-pay if they can see how many are short. I would hate to see these things end due to lack of attendance.

I know there were at least a couple guys planning on coming with me who didn't prepay as they are not club members - if i had known I would have prepay-ed for them! I am not meaning to be a dick but it really sucks to put a bunch of effort in and see it not happen at the last minute. I know from my perspective I would have had a couple of more guys - not sure if that would have made a difference but could definitely help for the next one?

I would have even paid extra if needed - just trying to figure out a way to fix it for next time. My other post was probably a but spiteful - just disappointed thats all.

We need 50-60 commited racers to make a rental worthwhile. I know the last rental I was able to attend only had about 4 cars there so the club took a major hit. I am not sure how many we had signed up but it was nowhere near what we needed. And as for the last minute cancellation, we are sorry. But our club president has been out of town most of the time since Woodward and hence, out of touch with us. He just got back recently and made the decision based on our available funds. As you said, at least he was prompt about the refunds for the 3 that prepaid. Hopefully we can get more to commit for a future rental so we can hold it.

Wow - 3 pre-paid is nothing - helps me understand why it was cancelled. Guess those extra couple guys would not have made the difference!

Is it possible to keep a running count for the Oct. race so we know the feasibility?

I've only been to a few rentals in the past couple years so I may be out of line saying this, but allow me to think outloud. 50-60 racers is going to be VERY hard come by when the racing time is 9AM-3PM on a Friday. Some members may have the benifit of leaving their job now and then when they want, or can schedule vacation time with short notice. BUT...I would bet the majority of members on here that are working are 9-5 M/F. I know at the start of the season when I saw that was the time frame I was dissapointed because all summer I worked 830-530. Getting a Friday off in the summer at my work is nearly impossible.

Didn't you hold a vote this year on what time frame would be best? If 9-3 won, where the hell are all the guys that voted? One would think later in the evening on a week night or a weekend day would be much easier for the majority of the working on this board.

We were limited to the days we could get rentals this year so a few ended up on a Fri. We had hoped that by posting the dates early enough people could plan ahead to have the day off to attend. Plus it allowed us 6 hrs versus the usual 4hrs we would get on a Sat rental. So it seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately real life happens and it's tough to get people out.

However, if you guys had noticed, the rental has been rescheduled to Sat Oct 16th 10a-1p. Gates open at 9:30am and No ET starts at 2pm. So that should be some incentive to come out for the morning and stay for the day. ;) I have a concert we are playing that night so I should be at the rental but then have to leave to set up for the show that evening. So once again, not gonna see the No ET races. Oh well. We'll be playing some good ol Rock & Roll! :rockwoot:
