It spun a rod bearing. Just noticed a ticking one day after I got off the expressway. I took it in to get diagnosed and the noise got progressively worse. Ended up needing a fresh longblock, so I just had the dealer do it properly with GM warrantied parts!
 
Forgot to add, engine comes with a 12 month or 12k mile warranty! That would be good through June 2014 or to 94k miles!
