02' Chrysler 300M Special Edition with the Auto-Stick...
Lost reverse tonight, ALL forward gears are perfect. Fluid is full but smells a little weird(toasty)... Didn't make any noises or anything, just revs up when I put it in reverse..... NOOO sign at all of the trans going before it lost reverse. Any ideas would be much appreciated... thanks in advanced Mark
 
Mark, Diagnosis is not possible with out a proper scan tool. Several things will need to be looked at. CVI #'s and trouble codes or DTC's.
Loosing reverse is not a good sign.
 
do you know anyone with a scanner?
thats one of those funny Fwd's with the engine facing the correct way

yea, I know a few ppl... And yea, the engine is the correct way.... Wonder how much this friggen thing is going to cost?!:punchball
 
from my experience of blowing up front wheel drive transmissions when i was growing up... reverse is the first to go alot of times... i had a friend who had no reverse and he drove around for almost two years because he couldnt afford to fix it... he just made sure he could pull out from where he parked... kinda sucked in the mall parking lot though
 
Does the trans have all 4 forward gears ??? If so could be a problem with the valvebody. Diagnosys of problems on that unit can be a bit tricky. You will need a scan tool and a pressure guage to really dig into it.
