Hey guys. I have been building/reduilding this car since I got it 5 years ago. STS turbo, then 454 LSX, now turbo again...

The car, with the 454

I picked up one of Ronnie Dukes 7second convertibles, and plan on building it for drag week, but I had zero experience. So I figured a build like this, would be good experience.

I bought a baliegh tube bender, and a diversion 165 last september, and have been distracted by other projects until recently...

I started cutting...

This was the original plan

Then things started getting out of hand... (I got the intake and found it wouldn't fit under the windshield)

Or the hood

Turbo kit arrived

Well, I decided, I didn't want to do the normal tin can turbo kit, so why not go extreme, and cut the car in half?

I cut out this....

and ended up with this...

THE SHOP

I bought a universal 31x19x3 Be Cool Radiator and cut it down to fit where I needed. AH!

I started fabbing up the new front end, including a turbo support

Charge and downpipe

Which brings me to today...
Not the prettiest welding, but I only have ~5mins of TIG experience so for (tack welds on this build).

Nice project looks like fun.... its funny my buddy and I just saw Ronnie Duke about 2-3 weeks ago broke down on Dort hwy in Flint he was sitting in a parking lot broke down in a bad ass black 69 charger pro touring car with a flatbed picking him and car up... I guess he was out getting some cruising time on before he goes to prison.....

Thanks.

Yea, he lives just south of me near white lake road. I see him cruising it that a lot. I guess it has Kenne Bell'd late model hemi (AKA bugu money).

I have never heard of him so I googled him. Holy crap!

Nothing too special right now. but I threw my return/FPR setup together real quick. Also, I got my sweet remote water pump adapters, and my cheapo valve covers in the mail, so I threw that stuff on.

Thanks. I got pretty lucky. I have been working in there since I was 15. You can see my apartment in the picture. I built that last november when I moved back home. I have been living out "here" for several months now. Its fully furnished; cable, internet, heat/ac, running water, fridge, microwave, etc... haha, makes it easy to work on the car everyday.

Hey how long are the runners on that intake ? Where do you plan peak power to be at . it's hard to tell, but it seems like a tall runner for a 454CI .. It could've saved you the cutting that hood if by cutting down the intake runner if it's too tall .. Looks sick , good luck with the rest of the build .

That sounds like a real man cave.... lol. Looks like u got a few cars...

Yea, lol. Ive been trying to trim the heard, there are several more outside waiting to be finished.

~6.5" Im looking for max power around 6500. This is no longer a 454, I sold that. This is just a stock longblock 6.0 LQ4. I know the intake may be too big. I was no worried about cutting the hood or windshield. The intake was a good value, I paid $600 shipped with fuel rails. Also, this being a non-intercooled build, the long runners should help lower IATs.

Hotside is almost done... Tomorrow, I will work on the collector a bit, then add the wastegate, then finish welding... Then I can get to work building the engine. I really like how it turned out. Took a couple interations.
